The Etobicoke Lakeshore Santa Claus Parade started as an idea in 1990 as a collaborative effort between the Lakeshore Village (New Toronto) BIA and Long Branch BIA, to bring back a Christmas Parade after a 25 year hiatus.
As a result of the dynamic changes in the area, there was interest in drawing crowds, supporting local businesses, and showcasing that the Etobicoke Lakeshore area was a vibrant and attractive community to live, work and play.
A steering committee was formed and seed money provided by both BIAs, and the first parade took place on December 5th 1991. And in 2009 the Skate With Santa was launched to give families even more opportunity to spend time with Santa, and the local businesses that bring this neighbourhood to life.
The parade has grown to bring together over 60,000 members of the community every year, and is celebrating its 31st anniversary in 2021.
